About this task
This task focuses on determining the geometric properties of a rectangular hollow section (RHS). Students calculate the cross-sectional area, centroidal moments of inertia about the principal axes, section moduli, and radii of gyration by subtracting the inner rectangle from the outer profile. The exercise develops practical skills in analyzing hollow structural sections, applying the subtraction method for composite areas, and evaluating section properties used in strength of materials, structural analysis, and steel design.
